International Conference on Global Dynamics Beyond Uniform Hyperbolicity
Scientific Program

The conference will focus on a few minicourses and plenary lectures, so that a large part of the time will be devoted to informal discussions.  A number of lecture rooms will be available to participants for more specialized sessions.

NOTICE TO LOCAL PARTICIPANTS:  If you are planning to attend the conference and are not on the list of confirmed participants, you must notify the conference organizers in advance of the conference.  The conference center is not open to the public.

Minicourses. Each minicourse will consist of three 50-minute long lectures. The minicourse speakers are:
Sylvain Crovisier (Paris 13) "Creation of homoclinic intersections" lecture notes
David Fisher (Indiana) "Local rigidity: a survey" abstract article
Omri Sarig (Penn State) "Critical phenomena for maps with countable Markov partitions" lecture notes
Marcelo Viana (IMPA) "Lyapunov exponents of Teichmuller flows" lecture notes
Lan Wen (Beijing) "Selection of quasi-hyperbolic strings" lecture notes

Plenary talks. There will be a small number of plenary talks, many of them devoted to a broader perspective on areas central to the workshop. There will also be a talk on the work of Francois Ledrappier, who is celebrating his 60th birthday this year.   Plenary speakers include:
Lorenzo Diaz (PUC/RJ)  "Robust heterodimensional cycles"
Bassam Fayad (Paris 13)  "Solution to Moser's conjecture on commuting circle diffeomorphisms"
Giovanni Forni (Toronto)  "Sharp regularity of solutions of the cohomological equation for (typical) interval exchange transformations."
Anatole Katok (Penn State)  "Measure rigidity beyond uniform hyperbolicity"
Ian Melbourne (Surrey)  "Decay of correlations for Lorentz gases and Lorenz attractors"
Maria-Jose Pacifico (UFRJ) "From the Lorenz chaotic attractor to singular-hyperbolic attractors"
Enrique Pujals (IMPA)  "Density of hyperbolicity and homoclinic bifurcations in attracting regions."
Michael Shub (Toronto)   "Non-zero Lyapunov exponents in families of dynamical systems"
Philippe Thieullen (Bordeaux)   "Francois's approach to smooth ergodic theory and stochastic hyperbolic geometry"

Special sessions. Special sessions with shorter talks will focus on recent advances in more specialized areas, including:
   Physical measures
   Strong statistical properties
   Hyperbolicity (uniform and partial)
   Nonuniform hyperbolicity
   Lyapunov exponents, dimension
   Geometry and rigidity
   Flat billiards and Teichmuller dynamics
