Ingrid Daubechies' minicourse:
Wavelets and Sparse expansions
The mini-course will give a quick overview of wavelet bases and some of their applications. In hindsight, they can be viewed as a first instance of the importance of sparse expansions, which are garnering a lot of attention; the second part of the mini-course will give more examples, and explain the mathematical challenges they pose.
The course will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays April 11-April 25, and Thursday May 2.
