Truchet Dynamics

Truchet Dynamics is a program used to invesigate quasi-periodic patterns of Truchet tiles (the two tiles shown below). For instance, the image at right is a path that appears in such a tiling. Self-similar paths seem to appear routinely in the tilings appearing in this program. More information is provided in the "in program help".

Running the program

You have many options for running this program. You may...

download it and run it. Download the file td.jar. You can run the program with the command line
```
java -jar td.jar
```
from the directory containing the file.
run it as an applet. Click the link to the left. Make sure to click on the applet before you begin interacting with it.
Run it using java web start. Click on the link td.jnlp and tell your browser to open it with java web start. (Usually this is an executable with the name "javaws", or something similar.) Alternately, you may save the file td.jnlp. Then in the directory containing the file type
```
javaws td.jnlp
```

Prerequisites

You will need a java version of at least 1.5 to run Truchet Dynamics.

Older versions

You can run some of the older versions of this program.

Version 1: Very early version, called Truchet Hut.
Version 2: Earlier version of Truchet Dynamics with an ajax interface. (I actually prefer this interface, but it crashed frequently.)
