About NUMS
NUMS currently meets on Wednesdays at 5p in Lunt Hall Rm 104. Refreshments are provided.
The Northwestern Undergraduate Math Society (NUMS) brings together students who, regardless of their majors, share an interest in mathematics. NUMS sponsors academic and social events throughout the year. Among NUMS activities are:
- talks by faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students about research and recreational mathematics
- films about mathematics or with mathematical themes
- panels on summer research opportunities in mathematics
- game nights with mathematical themes
- panels about mathematics career opportunities
- "oral CTECs" in which students discuss their experiences in mathematics courses and with various instructors
JOIN NUMS
NUMS announces its events through a listserv. To subscribe to the NUMS listserv:
- Log in to the email account you want to use to subscribe.
- Compose a new plain text email.
- Fill in the email as follows:
- To: listserv@listserv.it.northwestern.edu
- Subject: <leave blank>
- Body: SUBSCRIBE MATHSOCIETY FirstName LastName
- Do NOT include a signature in the email body. The signature will stop your subscription from going through. The only thing in the body of the email should be the SUBSCRIBE commands.
- Send the email.
