Recent Trends in Ergodic Theory, Symbolic Dynamics, and Connections to Combinatorics

• Convene leading experts in ergodic Ramsey theory and symbolic dynamics in order to foster scientific collaboration, exchange ideas, and catalyze new research directions.
• Provide graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with essential exposure to these rapidly evolving fields and cultivate the next generation of U.S.-based researchers in areas that are currently significantly underrepresented in the U.S. academic landscape.
• We also take this opportunity to celebrate Bryna Kra’s 60th birthday. Dr. Kra is the Sarah Rebecca Roland Professor at Northwestern University and is a former president of the American Mathematical Society whose work has had a profound impact on these fields.

Dynamics and Geometry 2027

• The conference, Dynamics and Geometry, will celebrate the mathematics and research of NU Mathematics faculty member, Prof. Keith Burns.  It will be held May 6–8, 2027 by Northwestern University. The organizers are Aaron Brown (Northwestern University), Boris Hasselblatt (Tufts University), Yan Mary He (University of Oklahoma), and Bryna Kra (Northwestern University). 

Interfaces in Fourier Analysis, Combinatorics, and Number Theory

• The aim of the program is to introduce graduate students and postdoctoral researchers working in related areas to recent developments in these fields.  The school will be held at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL from July 26-July 30, 2027.
