Santiago Cañez

Biography

Santiago Cañez received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011. He held a postdoctoral position at the University of California, Berkeley before joining the faculty at Northwestern University in 2012.

Cañez’s research is on groupoids and sympletic geometry. With Susan Colley, he is co-author of the textbook Vector Calculus (Pearson, 2021, 5th edition). In 2011 he was awarded the Nikki Kose Memorial Teaching Prize at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2017 he received a Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Teaching Award. In 2020 he was named a Charles Deering McCormick Distinguished Professor of Instruction.
